243 Children’s/Project Discussion: Katrina Germein

ITEM: One ninety minute meeting in an Adelaide cafe to talk about ways to improve your chances of becoming a published picture book author.

DETAILS:  An informal talk at an Adelaide location negotiated between Katrina and the winning bidder via email. The ninety minute meeting will provide an opportunity for an aspiring picture book author to pose questions about their work in progress and becoming a published picture book author. Katrina will respond to the questions by sharing her experiences of the road to publication and tips she has learnt along the way. Depending on the interests of the winning bidder Katrina will also speak generally about writing for children, children’s publishing, what makes a strong picture book text and support networks for children’s writers in Adelaide . (Coffee and cake included!)

CV: Children’s author Katrina Germein writes picture books that delight primary school children, preschoolers and adults alike. Her stories have won Notable Book Commendations from the Children’s Book Council of Australia and her book Big Rain Coming has been published around the world, remaining in print over a decade after its release. Katrina’s book Baby Gets Dressed was selected as an Advertiser Little Big Book Club reading pack title and the hilarious My Dad Thinks He’s Funny instantly proved so popular that it was reprinted within a month of being launched.
